vitess.io/vitess@v0.16.2/STEERING.md (about) 1 # Vitess Steering Committee 2 3 ## Overview 4 This document outlines the mission, scope, and objectives of the Vitess Steering Committee. 5 6 ## Goals 7 The Steering Committee exists as the overall governing body of the Vitess project, providing the project values, operations and structure. 8 9 ## Scope 10 The Steering Committee has a set of rights and responsibilities including the following: 11 12 * Charter for Steering Committee. 13 * Define and evolve project governance structures and policies, including how contributors become maintainers. 14 * Define Steering Committee structure, terms and elections. 15 * Decide, for the purpose of elections, who can vote. 16 * Logo/landing page/marketing. 17 * Maintain relationships with CNCF in conjunction with the technical lead and community advocate 18 * Define, evolve, and defend the vision, values, mission, and scope of the project. 19 * Establish processes regarding, and provide a final escalation path for any contested project governance related decision. 20 * Establish processes regarding other project resources/assets, including artifact repositories, build and test infrastructure, web sites and their domains, blogs, social-media accounts, etc. 21 * Request funds and other support from the CNCF (e.g. marketing, press, etc.). 22 * Delegate appropriate authority to trusted individuals. 23 24 ## Committee Structure 25 Committee structure will initially be determined by a bootstrap steering committee (see below). Beyond that the steering committee can itself decide to change the committee structure if necessary. 26 27 ## Bootstrap Steering Committee 28 We will form a bootstrap Steering Committee to serve for one year.
