Perhaps due to third 1996 party libraries, latency, or storage requirements, the FaaS model 1997 isn’t an ideal fit. An example that is commonly provided is the need 1998 to run <a href="https://www.ffmpeg.org/">ffmpeg</a>.</p> 1999 <p>To benefit from the serverless model in these cases, Sparta provides 2000 the ability to leverage the <a href="https://aws.amazon.com/fargate">Fargate</a> service 2001 to run Containers without needing to manage servers.</p> 2002 <p>There are several steps to <em>Fargate-ifying</em> your application and Sparta exposes 2003 functions and hooks to make that operation scoped to a <code>provision</code> operation.</p> 2004 <p>Those steps include:</p> 2005 <ol> 2006 <li>Make the application Task-aware</li> 2007 <li>Package your application in a Docker image</li> 2008 <li>Push the Docker image to <a href="https://aws.amazon.com/ecr/">Amazon ECR</a></li> 2009 <li>Reference the ECR URL in a Fargate Task</li> 2010 <li>Provision an ECS cluster that hosts the Task</li> 2011 </ol> 2012 <p>This overview is based on the <a href="https://github.com/mweagle/SpartaStepServicefull">SpartaStepServicefull</a> 2013 project.
